The OER Project used for Online Learning

The OER project is a non-profit for open educational resources that provides structured lesson plans for topics. One of these is history and they do it in a way that is super interactive and very helpful for online learning. They provide lessons, videos, maps, quizzes, and many more resources for history teachers to use in the classroom.

Here is a link to the OER Project- https://www.oerproject.com/

This is the overview of one of the lessons, students can work through it at their pace and have a bunch of different activities that they can do to enhance their learning.

These are all examples of activities that students will work on while going through a unit. They get to analyze maps, watch videos, read, look at historic documents, and so much more.

The OER Project lessons would be able to greatly enhance my teaching abilities, especially when teaching online. It gives students a structured lesson to go through on a topic, but I would still have the power to pick and choose how many different parts they do to make sure they aren't overloaded. It also allows them to work at their own pace on this, which is also really important for them to be able to do. But this is a super great asset to have for online teaching and greatly enhances their exposure to the topic. Also, it provides a lot of different ways for them to learn which allows for all students to accel.

Pros

- This is a free service which allows everyone to access everything.

- Differentiation in learning is very easy through this source as it provides multiple different ways for a student to learn a topic.

Cons

- There are limited amounts of lessons with most focusing on World History.

- It is difficult for teachers to see how far students are progressing. Also, there is a lack of feedback from what I could see so that limits a teacher in knowing how much their students are getting out of it.
